On Sunday, CM Yadav said that the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to develop the religious places associated with Lord Krishna in the state as pilgrimage sites.
"On the occasion of Janmashtami, our government has decided that religious places associated with Lord Krishna in the state will be developed as pilgrimage sites. In the series, I came to Amjhera in the Dhar district, around 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna had a battle with Rukmini's brother Rukmi here. It is a historic place and our government has decided to make this place a pilgrimage site," CM said.
He further added, "We have pushed our work forward especially the operation of Gaushalas, its social responsibility and from animal husbandry to milk production in the state. In the coming days, our government will also announce a bonus on milk production."
Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated today on August 26 across the country. To celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, devotees observe fast and decorate temples and their homes, with flowers, diyas and lights.
The occasion is particularly grand in Mathura and Vrindavan, where it is believed that Krishna spent his youth and childhood.
