MP: Absconding rape accused opens fire on minor victim's family in Chhatarpur; 1 dead, 2 including victim injured

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Civil Line police station in the district on Monday. According to the police, the accused is a neighbour of the minor and a case was registered against him in connection with rape and molestation in August this year and since then he was on the run.

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 7 (ANI): A man, accused of commiting rape with a minor girl in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, opened fire on the family members of minor victim on Monday in which one person died and two, incluing the victim got injured, a police officer said.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Civil Line police station in the district on Monday.
According to the police, the accused is a neighbour of the minor and a case was registered against him in connection with rape and molestation in August this year and since then he was on the run.
Meanwhile, the accused was also pressuring the family of the victim to settle the case. On Monday, he again reached the house to force them to compromise and opened fire in which the grandfather of the victim died, while the victim and her uncle sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain told ANI, "An incident occurred under civil line police station in the district on Monday morning where a man, who is accused of committing rape with a minor girl, opened fire at the family of victim in which one person died while two sustained injuries, who are undergoing treatment."
The police are conducting raids at various locations and the accused will be arrested at earliest, he added.
"The accused had committed a crime in August this year in which an FIR was registered against him. Later on Monday, he committed the crime in view of pressuring the victim's family to settle the previous case. Previously, the case was registered against the accused under relevant sections related to rape," SPJain said.
Earlier also, a reward was announced against the accused and efforts were made to nab the accused, he added. (ANI)
