Most of Tamil Nadu grapples with heatwave conditions, Karur records highest temperature at 44 degrees Celsius

Many districts in the state recorded more than 40 degrees Celsius: Cuddalore (40.2 degrees Celsius), Madurai (41.4 degrees Celsius), Namakkal (41.0 degrees Celsius), Dharmapuri (41.5 degrees Celsius) Vellore (43.7 degrees Celsius).

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], May 1 (ANI): Most districts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday grappled with heatwave conditions with the Karur district recording the highest temperature, 44 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department, 44 degrees Celsius recorded in the Karur district today is 7.2 degrees Celsius more than normal.
Many districts in the state recorded more than 40 degrees Celsius: Cuddalore (40.2 degrees Celsius), Madurai (41.4 degrees Celsius), Namakkal (41.0 degrees Celsius), Dharmapuri (41.5 degrees Celsius) Vellore (43.7 degrees Celsius).
The IMD has forecast that heat wave conditions would continue for the next three days in the state.
The IMD has also warned of heat wave conditions at isolated pockets over the north interior of the state and issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions.
In almost all observatories the temperature recorded today was more than the normal notch.
In Chennai, the temperature recorded on Wednesday was 40.7 degrees Celsius. It was 3.6 degrees Celsius more than the normal.
More than above-normal temperatures prompted the Chennai Corporation authorities to issue advisories to the residents not to step out of their houses between noon and 3 pm and cover their heads to protect themselves from the scorching heat. (ANI)
