MoS Sanjeev Balyan encourages artisans to unlock opportunities with PM Vishwakarma scheme

Kohima (Nagaland) [India], September 17 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, while attending the formal launch of PM Vishwakarma scheme in Nagaland's Kohima on Sunday, urged all artisans to explore opportunities "unlocked" by the scheme. 
"Dream big, and reach for the stars and together we can build a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous India," MoS Balyan said while addressing the occasion. 
Informing that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme is a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Balyan said, "It embodies the unwavering commitment of the government to empower the skilled workforce and propel India towards a brighter and more prosperous future." 
"The initiative aims to harness the boundless potential of our workforce, especially those engaged in the informal sector, but have traditional rich talent and provide them with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to thrive in the ever-evolving global landscape," he added. 
He also added that the scheme recognizes the need for continuous upskilling and reskilling in a rapidly changing world. 

"It is imperative that our workforce remains adaptable and well-prepared to seize emerging opportunities," he said. 
"Through the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, we are providing avenues for skill development and entrepreneurship, fostering innovation and creativity, and ultimately ensuring a better livelihood for our citizens offering a comprehensive package of benefits, including skill development, access to finance, technology adoption, market linkages, social security from healthcare to insurance safeguarding the interests of the skilled workers and their families," he added. 
He further said that the state of Nagaland is not just blessed with natural beauty but also possesses a rich cultural heritage that continues to inspire and enrich the nation. 

Addressing the launch programme, MoS Balyan said, "Nagas have a history of making their own tools and equipment - speakers, necklaces, tattoos, weaving, traditional dolls, bangles among many other products stating that now under this scheme they can avail the financial support for using better tools and method which would help them save time and also improve the quality."
"Traditionally, Nagas have been making their own houses," the MOS said while adding that with these skills local builders and artisans would be promoted under the scheme. 
The scheme which is being launched for 18 trades will enable the local people of Nagaland to be tech-savvy and present their products on a global platform, he said. 
MLA and Advisor Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Nagaland, Moatoshi Longkumer said that the PM Vishwakarma scheme's custom-made design for Nagaland perfectly fits into the social and customary practices that have the potential to change the economic scenario of the state. 
"Nagaland has immense potential for micro-entrepreneurship ventures that can address unemployment and traditionally, the population has majorly depended on Government jobs as a source of sustainable livelihood," he added. 
Stating that with the rise of unemployment, entrepreneurship is viewed as a key solution to address and mitigate it. 
Moatoshi Longkumer also stated that the economic upliftment through learning traditional skills is a strategy that combines heritage preservation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community development and by recognizing the value of these skills and providing the necessary support and training, we can create a pathway to economic prosperity that is both inclusive and sustainable, he said. 
On the occasion of his 73rd birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Vishwakarma Yojana scheme today to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma. 
The 'PM Vishwakarma Scheme', aimed at supporting Vishwakarma artisans and promoting entrepreneurship, holds the promise of providing financial assistance to countless individuals from this community. 
The scheme aligns with the government's commitment to uplift and empower marginalized sections of society, fulfilling the promise of inclusive growth and economic development. 
The launch of the 'PM Vishwakarma scheme’ reflects not only India's commitment to its skilled artisans but also Prime Minister Modi's vision of a globally connected and inclusive world. 
As the scheme takes effect, it is expected to empower Vishwakarma artisans, boost entrepreneurship, and contribute to the nation's economic growth. (ANI)
