New Delhi [India], August 17 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh on Sunday endorsed the 'Voter Adhikar Rally', stating that the movement was against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s alleged conspiracy to deprive millions of voters of their voting rights through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of the voter list in Bihar.

In a post on social media platform X, Ramesh described the movement as a "moral and constitutional battle" to protect democracy and uphold the sanctity of 'one person, one vote'.
"After the transformative Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, now @RahulGandhi, in collaboration with other INDIA alliance parties, has launched the Voter Rights Yatra. This yatra is against the BJP's conspiracy to deprive millions of voters of their voting rights through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar and the shocking revelations of 'vote theft' occurring across the country.
The Voter Rights Yatra is not just another political march. It is a moral and constitutional battle to protect our democracy and uphold the sanctity of 'one person, one vote.' Additionally, this struggle is to ensure that the voices of the poorest and most marginalised are not stolen through fraud, manipulation, and authoritarian conspiracies," the post read.
The Congress General Secretary further mentioned that the movement not only instilled confidence in bringing change but also carried forward the spirit of protecting the Constitution.
Outlining the route of the rally, Ramesh stated that the yatra would commence from Sasaram and pass through more than 20 districts, covering a journey of 1,300 kilometres, and conclude on September 1 at Patna's Gandhi Maidan.
"Every yatra has instilled confidence in people that change is possible. The Voter Rights Yatra carries forward that same spirit--for the protection of the Constitution, the restoration of trust in institutions, and the guarantee of every Indian's right to have their vote counted.
This yatra is starting today from Sasaram, the political hometown of Babu Jagjivan Ram, a leading figure in the fight for social and political justice. Over the next 16 days, the yatra will pass through more than 20 districts, covering a journey of 1,300 kilometres, and will conclude with a massive Voter Rights Rally at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1," the post further read.
