Monsoon Session: NEET, unemployment, airfares to be taken up in Parliament today

As the Parliament convenes for the ongoing Monsoon Session on Friday, the discussion regarding National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), unemployment, and regulation of airfare will be taken up in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today.

New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): As the Parliament convenes for the ongoing Monsoon Session on Friday, the discussion regarding National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), unemployment, and regulation of airfares will be taken up in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today.
According to the agenda released, the Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Prataprao Jadhav, Anupriya Patel, Kritivardhan Singh, and Shantanu Thakur will lay papers on the tables in Lok Sabha.
Ministry of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will make a statement regarding Government Business during the remaining part of the 2nd session of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Union Minister JP Nadda will move the motion for the election of one member to the Governing Council of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institue of Health and Medical Sciences (Neigrihms), Shillong.
"That in pursuance of Rule 3(b)27 read with rule 4(b) of the Rules of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong, the members of this House do proceed to elect, in such manner as the Speaker may direct, one member from amongst themselves to serve as member of the Governing Council of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong subject to the other provisions of the said Rules," it stated.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Sanjay Seth will move a motion for the election of two members to the central advisory committee for the National Cadet Corps.
"Sanjay Seth to move the following:- that in pursuance of clause (i) of sub-section (1) and subsection (1A) of Section 12 of the National Cadet Corps Act, 1948, the members of this House do proceed to elect, in such manner as the Speaker may direct, two members from amongst themselves to serve as members of the Central Advisory Committee for the National Cadet Corps, subject to the other provisions of the said Act and the Rules made thereunder," it added.
Later the discussion and voting will be held on demands for Grants under the control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for 2024-25 and the control of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for 2024-25.
In the private members business Congress leader Shafi Parambil will move a resolution on the further discussion on Appropriate Measures to Regulate Airfare in the Country.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Shripang Appa Barne to move a resolution for further discussion on Appropriate measures on the regulation of Private Financial Companies.
BJP leader Smita Uday Wagh will move a resolution to discuss Immediate steps for the inclusion of the Lower Tapi Project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana.
In the Rajya Sabha Union Ministers Jitin Prasada, Ram Nath Thakur, Prof. SP Singh Baghel, L Murugan, Bhagirath Choudhary, and Pabitra Margherita will lay apers on the table entered in separate lists.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu will make a statement regarding the Status of implementation of Recommendations/ Observations contained in the 67th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing on 'Scheme for Creation/ Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities - An Evaluation'.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will move a motion for elections to the joint committee on offices of profit.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal will move a motion for elections to the rubber board.
"Piyush Goyal to move the following Motion:-- That in pursuance of clause (e) of sub-section (3) of the Section (4) of the Rubber Act, 1947 read with Rule 4(2) of the Rubber Rules, 1955, this House do proceed to elect, in such manner as directed by the Chairman, one Member from amongst the Members of the House to be a member of the Rubber Board in the vacancy caused due to the retirement of Shri Vinay Dinu Tendulkar from the membership of Rajya Sabha on the 28th July 2023," the List of Business stated.
Moreover, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will move the statutory resolution.
"Nirmala Sitharaman to move the following Resolution:-- In pursuance of Section 8A of the Customs Tariff Act 1975, this House hereby approves of notification No. 15/2024-Customs, dated 12th March 2024[G.S.R. 182(E) dated 12th March 2024], which seeks to amend the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, in order to increase the import duty on Xray Tubes, falling under tariff items 9022 30 00, and Flat Panel Detectors (including Scintillators), falling under tariff item 9022 90 90, respectively," it added.
In the private members business (resolution), DMK leader M Mohamed Abdulla will move the following resolution, Having regard to the fact that:- "Certain States are opposed to the National Eligibility cum Entrance (NEET) Exam due to the perceived injustice to the domiciled students of the State."
"The NEET exam needs review in the way of selection of eligible candidates. The NEET Question Paper leaks, the award of grace marks, etc., have indicated the need to examine the ability of NTA to successfully conduct examinations without prejudice to students.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader AA Rahim will move the following resolution, "Having regard to the fact that:- unemployment is increasing uncontrollably in the country and according to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economics (CMIE) data, the unemployment rate rose to 9.4 per cent in June 2024."
A discussion is to be held on the working of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The monsoon session of Parliament commenced on July 22 and as per the schedule, the session will conclude on August 12. (ANI)
