Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Mar 14 (ANI): With the monsoon hitting the city, Hyderabad has shown an alarming increase in malaria and dengue cases in the past few weeks.
Even though anti-larval operations and fogging are being conducted in the city, there is no respite for the people from mosquitoes.
Recently, scores of people have been tested positive with the mosquito-borne virus in the state.
Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Fever Hospital Dr Shankar said, "Recently eight to ten cases of Malaria have got positive in the Fever Hospital. Most of the cases turned positive are vivax malaria, which is 100% curable while some cases are falciparum malaria."
"We are admitting the patients whose samples turned positive and providing all kinds of treatment. Even though the vivax malaria is not dangerous but the cases are increasing," added Dr Shankar.
Dr. Shankar said that dengue cases are also reported at Fever Hospital, but they are less in number as compared to malaria.
"Till now, two to four cases of dengue turned positive. Compared to last year, the number of malaria cases has increased," he said.
It should be noted that Falciparum malaria is the most dangerous form of malaria, having the highest death rate. (ANI)
