Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hit out against the Congress in his election rallies in Jammu and Hisar and spoke of the 2016 surgical strikes and "robust response" of his government against those trying to create trouble in the country.
Addressing a rally in Jammu, PM Modi referred to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army in 2016 on terror launch pads across Line of Control after a terrorist strike in Uri and said that the action gave out a message about "new India."
"Remember that time when bullets were fired from that side and the Congress used to wave white flags. When the BJP government responded to the bullets with shells, the people on that side came to their senses. Today is 28th September. In the year 2016, on the night of 28th September, a surgical strike was carried out. India had told the world, 'Yeh naya Bharat hai, yeh ghar mein ghuskar maarta hain...Aatank ke aakao ko pata hai agar kuch bhi himaakat ki toh Modi paataal mein bhi unhe khoj nikalega'," PM Modi said.
He alleged that Congress "had asked for proof of surgical strike from our army."
"You should never forget the behaviour of Congress, it is the party which had asked for proof of a surgical strike from our army. Congress is the party that even today speaks the language of Pakistan regarding the surgical strike," PM Modi said.
PM Modi also talked of surgical strikes in his rally in Hisar in Haryana.
"Today is 28th September, let me remind you that it was on the night of 28th September we had carried out the surgical strike...what did the Congress do? They asked our army for proof of the surgical strike. This is the same Congress which called our army chief a street goon. Will the patriotic people of Haryana tolerate such a Congress?" he said.
In his rally in Hisar, PM Modi accused Congress of speaking "lies" to people, corruption and "betrayal" with farmers and said BJP government in the state has worked for all sections of society.
He alleged that Congress is suffering from infighting and pointed to chief ministerial ambition of its leaders.
He accused Congress of speaking lies on MSP of crops and said the BJP government in the stage was procuring 24 crops on minimum support price.
"In Congress-ruled states, only one or two crops are purchased on MSP. Can farmers trust such deceitful Congress. Haryana has faith on BJP," he said.
Pitching for "non-stop" Haryana, PM Modi said people have decided to bring BJP to power in the state for third successive term.
"I salute all those who have contributed to the development of Haryana. Today, on the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh, I would like to salute him as well... development of Haryana should go on non-stop and that's why people of state have decided to give a chance to BJP for the third time. Haryana has made up its mind to give up its mandate to Bharatiya Janata Party for a record third time," he said
"Everyone is saying 'Bharosa Dil Se BJP Phir Se'. As the polling date is coming closer, Congress leaders are saying that Congress will face the same fate as it did in Madhya Pradesh," he added.
The Prime Minister accused Congress of prioritising its electoral interests above public issues and hating "Dalit" community.
"People are seeing how there is an infighting in Congress to become the Chief Minister. Bapu bhi davedaar hai, beta bhi davedaar hai ('Bapu' is also a contender and so is his son). And both of them are together engaged in eliminating others. And seeing all this, the aware citizens of Haryana have started eliminating Congress...The doors of Congress are completely closed for Dalits and backwards. Congress knows that Dalits do not vote for it, that is why it hates the entire Dalit community," the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister alleged that Congress "is the most deceitful and dishonest party in the country".
"You can see the condition of Himachal Pradesh in the neighbourhood. They lied to the people of Himachal Pradesh during elections and now, after forming the government, people are asking Congress what happened to your promises and Congress is asking the people, who are you? There can never be stability where Congress is. How can a party that cannot bring unity among its leaders bring stability to the state?" the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi attacked Congress over the farmers issue and alleged that after the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka, hundreds of farmers have committed suicide.
"Whenever Congress people talk to you about farmers, ask them that you have governments in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal. Implement something there. After the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka, hundreds of farmers have committed suicide. Congress has also lied to you on MSP. The truth is that the BJP government is buying 24 crops on MSP, whereas in Congress-ruled states only 1-2 crops are bought on MSP," he said.
Two phases of assembly elections have been held in Jammu and Kashmir and the last phase will be held on October 1. Haryana will vote on October 5 for its new assembly. Votes will be counted on October 8. (ANI)
