Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 15 (ANI): BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of being a "hypocrite".
Speaking to ANI, KTR accused the Congress of "stealing" 10 MLAs from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party.
He demanded that the Speaker take action and disqualify them immediately.
KTR said, "Rahul Gandhi talks about vote theft. I want to remind him. MLA theft is a bigger crime than vote theft. You stole our ten MLAs. Today, after stealing ten MLAs, the president of your PCC himself is saying that ten people have joined our party. How long will you escape from the Supreme Court? How long will you escape from action? We just say this to Rahul Gandhi: stop being hypocritical, you talk about the constitution, you talk about anti-defection, but your deeds are something else...The speaker will have to immediately take action on them and disqualify them."
Further, the BRS leader criticised the Congress government in Telangana for not fulfilling promises made to students.
He said over 13 lakh students are suffering because the government has not paid more than Rs 8,000 crore in scholarships and fee reimbursements.
"The Congress government, which took office in 2023, had made so many promises to the students of Telangana. Today, they are unable to keep up even the basic promises. 13 lakh students are suffering because more than 8000 crores of rupees are due to students in the colleges. Now the scholarships are not being given, the fee reimbursement is not being implemented, as a result of which today 13 lakh student families are being harassed by the college managements," he said.
"We demand answers from Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party...Rahul Gandhi should immediately intervene. The state government should immediately release at least 2000 crores.. This is our request and demand as well," KTR said. (ANI)
