Minor gang-raped in Patna, locals indulge in arson

BJP leaders on Wednesday hit back at Congress over its spokesperson Supriya Shrinate's allegation that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had resorted to artificial intelligence to show good roads in Assam and said the "entire Cong ecosystem has so much contempt for Assam" and the people of state "will remember this insult".

"The Election Commission is a constitutional body. Conducting the SIR process is their right. What do these people want? Do they want to win by using the fake votes of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, infiltrators, the deceased, and those with double entries? This cannot happen. The people of Bengal have the right to the resources of Bengal, not the infiltrators and Bangladeshis," he said.

The application has been filed by the daughter of the deceased, who is also the Unnao rape survivor. She has sought enhancement of the 10-year sentence awarded to Sengar and other convicts.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dinesh Sharma, on Wednesday, commented on the implementation of women's reservation in the parliament, affirming that women's empowerment remains a top priority for the ruling government.

Congress MP Manish Tewari said that invoking of the Essential Commodities Act was over the top and the crisis warranted a full fledged discussion in the House.
