Ministry of Civil Aviation organises 'Shramdaan' event under Swachhata Hi Seva campaign

The event was led by Minister of Civil Aviation Jyoitiraditya Scindia at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in New Delhi where the cleaning activity at the service lane and premises adjoining Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan was carried out.

New Delhi [India], October 1 (ANI): The Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign is being celebrated from September 15 to October 2 this year under the joint aegis of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs with an aim to encourage community participation. 
In line with the clarion call of the Prime Minister to join the Shramdaan, a cleanliness initiative as part of Swacch Bharat on October 1 at 10 am, a massive cleanliness drive was carried out across the country. 
One such Shramdaan event was also observed by various stakeholders under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. 
The event was led by Minister of Civil Aviation Jyoitiraditya Scindia at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in New Delhi where the cleaning activity at the service lane and premises adjoining Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan was carried out. 
While speaking to ANI, the Human Resource Member of the Airport Authority of India H Srinivas said, “Today has been a very happy occasion as the Airports Authority of India is celebrating the Swachhta Diwas today, as per the clarion call given by the Honourable Prime Minister and Government of India, that Swachhta hi Seva." 
"What else can be so important other than Swachhta? Today we have selected a public place between the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan and the entrance of the Safdarjung Airport which is normally used by the public. And, the Airports Authority of India and the Ministry of Civil Aviation both have jointly organised this campaign of cleaning,” he added. 
The officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Airports Authority of India and the volunteers also contributed to the Shramdaan event.
The Annual Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) fortnight is being jointly organized by Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen and Urban effective from September 15 to October 2. The theme of SHS this year is Garbage Free India with a focus on the visible cleanliness and welfare of Safai Mitras. (ANI)
