New Delhi [India], June 20 (ANI): Aam Admi Party leaders said on Thursday that the decision of the court to grant bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is a "milestone for the whole country" and a "historic verdict."
"Rouse Avenue Court granting bail to CM Arvind Kejriwal is a milestone for the whole country. This decision will become a big example in our legal system. In PMLA, most people get relief only from the Supreme Court...Usually, lower courts never give relief...So it is evident that the central government has no proof in this case...," Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj told ANI.
AAP leader Durgesh Pathak told reporters, "This is a very happy occasion. I congratulate all the people. I can say only one thing: the truth can be hidden but not defeated. I thank the court."
AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar termed the decision a historic verdict.
"...This case is completely fake; the whole case has been written in the BJP office. We are very grateful to the court for giving a historic verdict. Regular bail in a PMLA case is nothing less than an acquittal...," Kakkar told ANI.
The Rouse Avenue court on Thursday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy.
Vacation judge Nyay Bindu granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal on furnishing bail bond of Rs one lakh.
The court refused the request of the ED to postpone the process of filing a bail bond for 48 hours.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The Delhi Chief Minister had been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 in view of Lok Sabha polls and was told to surrender on June 2.He was asked not visit the Office of the Chief Minister and the Delhi Secretariat.
The Delhi High Court had earlier dismissed his plea for release from jail and rejected his argument of political vendetta amid the Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
