Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 27 (ANI): The membership drive of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Friday witnessed an unprecedented response of 5,18,994 people.
Taking to X to make the announcement, CM Manik Saha wrote in a post "Our BJP family is on the cusp of a monumental achievement--5,18,944 members strong & growing! I extend heartfelt gratitude to our Karyakartas & members for their relentless efforts. Your hard work & commitment are shaping India's future. Keep shining!"
On September 24, 4,00,000 people here had joined the party.
From Dharmanagar to Sabroom, the campaign has sparked enthusiastic participation among the people of the state. Chief Minister Manik Saha is himself engaging with the public to bolster the initiative.
This initiative by the Chief Minister, aimed at strengthening the party's organisational base while managing governance, has greatly inspired party workers at all levels.
Speaking to ANI, CM Saha said that they are aiming to enrol around 1.2 million members in Tripura, with 500 new members at each booth. He also exuded confidence in meeting the target.
"On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launched the membership drive, and the following day I began the membership campaign in Tripura. Previously, approximately 650,000 people accepted membership in the BJP, and this time the target has been increased in Tripura and at the central level," CM Saha said.
"This year, we aim to enrol about 1.2 million members in Tripura. We are working at various levels in different mandals, and our target is to ensure a minimum of 500 new members at each booth. I am personally visiting various locations to facilitate the membership process, which is also available online until September 25. Given the enthusiasm for membership, I firmly believe we will meet our target," he added.
The Chief Minister further urged the people of the state to join the membership drive. (ANI)
