Mehul Choksi's repatriation sovereign decision of Dominica, says Antigua PM

Santosh Srivastava, the former Managing Director of Gitanjali Gems and a key whistleblower in the multi-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam involving fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, has welcomed the decision of Belgian's Court of Cassation to dismiss Choksi's final appeal against extradition to India.

Terming the objections raised by fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi as lacking substance, the Court of Cassation of Belgium has dismissed his appeal against extradition to India, affirming that he failed to establish any legal or factual ground warranting interference with earlier orders permitting his surrender.

With the appeal dismissed, officials confirmed that the extradition order can now be executed, subject to the completion of the necessary formalities.

Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijay Mallya, Nitin Sandesara, Chetan Sandesara and Sudhir S Venkatramanare are among India's 15 Fugitive Economic Offenders (FEOs) as of October 31, 2025, as they together are responsible for causing financial losses of over Rs 58,000 crore to public sector banks and institutions.
