"Meeting postponed after some members requested": JPC Chairman Jagdambika Pal

After Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 was postponed today, JPC Chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said on Wednesday that today's meeting was postponed after some members' request. However, he highlighted that the upcoming meeting will be conducted as per the schedule, on September 19 and 20.

New Delhi [India], September 18 (ANI): After Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 was postponed today, JPC Chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said on Wednesday that Wednesday's meeting was postponed after some members' requested for the same. However, he highlighted that the upcoming meeting will be conducted as per the schedule, on September 19 and 20.
Speaking to reporters, Jagdambika Pal said, "The meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee was to be held on 18, 19 and 20 September. But some of our members said that Ganesh Chaturthi is on the 17th and Eid-e-Milad procession is being taken out in Maharashtra today. Due to this, today's meeting has been postponed. The meeting will be held on 19 and 20 September as scheduled."
Earlier in the day, it was said that a meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, scheduled for today has been postponed due to some technical reasons.
As per the new schedule, the meeting will now be held on September 19 and 20, 2024. A meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, was earlier scheduled for September 18, 19 and 20 at the Parliament House Annexe in the capital city of New Delhi.
In the meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Minority Affairs will record oral evidence before the committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.The Joint Parliamentary Committee will also hear the views or suggestions of some experts and stakeholders, such as Prof Faizan Mustafa, Vice Chancellor, Chanakya National Law University, Patna; Pasmanda Muslim Mahaaz and All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board, on the bill.
The committee will additionally hear the suggestions of All India Sajjadanashin Council, Ajmer, Muslim Rashtriya Manch, Delhi and Bharat First, Delhi, on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. (ANI)
