Medical emergency diverts flight to Varanasi, passenger dies

New Delhi [India], Oct 5 (ANI): A Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight was diverted to Varanasi on Friday after a passenger's health deteriorated onboard.

New Delhi [India], Oct 5 (ANI): A Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight was diverted to Varanasi on Friday after a passenger's health deteriorated onboard.
However, the passenger, who was travelling on SG 88 from Bangkok to Delhi, was declared brought dead at a local hospital.
Giving out further details about the incident, an airport official stated that a male passenger faced some medical issues on the flight following which the plane was diverted to Varanasi for an emergency landing.
A SpiceJet spokesperson stated that all possible assistance was provided by the crew on board after landing at Varanasi, adding that airport and Air Traffic Control (ATF) officials were informed in advance for medical assistance.
Although the SpiceJet team rushed the passenger to a local hospital, he was declared dead by the attending doctors, the spokesperson said.
"SpiceJet Flight SG 88 operating from Bangkok to Delhi on October 5 was diverted to Varanasi owing to a medical emergency on board. All possible assistance was provided by the crew on board and after landing at Varanasi," the spokesperson said.
"The airport and ATC had also been informed by the pilots for medical assistance in advance and after landing the passenger was rushed to the hospital by the SpiceJet team. However, the passenger was declared brought dead by the attending doctors," the spokesperson added.
On September 26, an 11-month-old baby died, while travelling from Doha to Hyderabad.
Upon reaching Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the family called for medical assistance. The team of doctors at the airport declared the boy brought dead, adding that the toddler died of breathing problems.(ANI)
