Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi appointed as officiating registrar at Jamia Millia Islamia

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif has appointed Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Honorary Director, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, JMI as the officiating registrar of the university.

New Delhi [India], November 1 (ANI): Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif has appointed Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Honorary Director, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, JMI as the officiating registrar of the university, officials said on Friday.
As per an official release, Prof. Rizvi assumed the charge immediately after the issuance of the order.
He has replaced M. Nasim Haider, Deputy Registrar-I, who was officiating as Registrar of the university for the last few months.
The Vice Chancellor and staff members of the university congratulated Prof. Rizvi and wished him good luck for his tenure as the Officiating Registrar of the varsity.
During his address, the Vice Chancellor said that we will work together as a team to take the university to new heights and will try to fulfill the dreams of the founders of this great institution.
Prof. Rizvi in his address said, "I am grateful to the Vice Chancellor for reposing faith in me for giving me this challenging role."
He added, "I will not say much and will try to prove myself with my actions. I need the support of all the teaching and non-teaching staffs for efficient working."
Prof. Rizvi has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He joined JMI in February 2017 and before that he has worked as Fellow in the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi (A premier and prestigious Research Institute/Think-Tank of Ministry of Defence, Government of India). He is an expert in international relations, foreign policy and security issues, especially India's strategic relations with the countries of West Asia and North Africa.
His research also focuses on Political and Internal Developments in Iran, Iran's Nuclear Programme, Iran-China Economic, Political and Defence Relations.
Prof. Rizvi has been a close observer of developments in the West Asia and North Africa region, Energy Security in West Asia and Peace and Conflict Resolution in the WANA region. He has also worked on joint projects of IDSA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, and GCC Countries. He has also worked in several administrative positions also.
President of India nominated him as a member of the Aligarh Muslim University Court. He is an External Member in the Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, the release added. (ANI)
