Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], January 14 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday offered prayers at the Shri Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad on the occasion of 'Uttarayan' festival.
Sharing pictures from his visit on X, Shah wrote, "Jai Jagannath! As every year, this year too, on the sacred occasion of Uttarayan, we were fortunate to have darshan and worship at Shri Jagannath Temple located in Ahmedabad. May the grace of the Lord be ever upon the people of the country. As every year, this year too, on the sacred festival of Uttarayan, we were fortunate to have darshan and worship at Shri Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad. May the blessings of Lord Jagannathji always shower upon all the citizens of the country.

After the temple visit, Shah also participated in the traditional kite flying.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his warm greetings on Makar Sankranti, Magh Bihu, and Pongal, festivals that mark the harvest season across India.
In a letter, the Prime Minister said the festival symbolises hope and positivity. He said that Sankranti is celebrated in various forms across the country, but with the same spirit and enthusiasm.
Highlighting its importance for farmers, he said the festival is an occasion to express gratitude to those who nourish the nation through their hard work.
Along with Uttarayan, Lohri, Pongal and Sankranti, it represents the diverse ways harvest festivals are celebrated across India.
Makar Sankranti is a prominent festival on the Indian calendar. Devotees make offerings to the Sun god, 'Surya', on Makar Sankranti. The day marks the first day of the sun's transit into the 'Makara' (Capricorn) Zodiac sign.
Also known to strengthen the bond of friendship, this festival is all about making 'khichdi', kite flying, sesame sweets, and coconut laddoos. Makar Sankranti marks a message that the winter season is ending. (ANI)
