Amritsar (Punjab) [India], October 21 (ANI): On the occasion of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, former Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Tuesday visited Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib) in Amritsar to offer prayers for flood-affected families in the state.
During this, he prayed at the feet of Guru Ramdas Ji that Punjab may always prosper and peace prevail in the state.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Dhaliwal said that this was his first visit to Darbar Sahib to pray for the flood-affected families. He said that he had made a special prayer at the feet of Guru Ramdas Ji that prosperity may return to the lives of the flood-affected families.
Dhaliwal said, "My prayer is that by next Diwali, all flood-affected families are back on their feet and able to celebrate this festival with joy."
He added that he also met with Giani Raghubir Singh Ji, the head granthi of Darbar Sahib, and requested him to offer a special prayer for the well-being of the flood-affected people.
Reflecting on the significance of the festivals, Dhaliwal said that the valid message of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas is this: freedom from sorrow and moving towards prosperity.
He said that he is confident that next Diwali will bring light and smiles to every Punjabi home.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday paid tribute to Harvinder Sahib Govind on his birth anniversary, noting his contributions to public welfare.
CM Yogi said that 1,000 quintals of wheat seed have been sent to Punjab for the farmers affected by recent floods in the state, highlighting his government's support for farmers during natural disasters.
The Chief Minister today attended the seed assistance vehicle flag-off program for food-affected farmers in Punjab.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said, "The flood in Punjab has impacted public life, including seed storage, which could affect agricultural growth. In this time of crisis, we stand with the farmers of Punjab. Today, 1,000 quintals of wheat seed are being sent, and I thank the Agriculture Department and the Seed Department for this initiative."
He added that the wheat variety being sent matures in 155 days and yields up to 80 quintals per hectare, emphasising the quality of the seeds provided. (ANI)
