Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 2 (ANI): Shiva devotees on Friday arrived at Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer prayers on the occasion of Shivratri in the holy month of Sawan.
The Sawan Shivratri is on August 2 and there is immense enthusiasm among Shiva devotees in Varanasi because Shivratri has a very special significance in Sawan.

Today marks the auspicious occasion of Sawan Shivratri, and there is immense enthusiasm among Shiva devotees in Varanasi. Sawan Shivratri holds a unique significance, making this celebration even more special. Today, the darshan and worship of Baba Vishwanath also has special significance. Shivaratri of Sawan in Varanasi is not only important from the point of view of religious faith, but is also a festival that shows the path of self-purification.
It is also believed in Varanasi that by seeing and worshiping Baba Vishwanath on this day, Lord Bholenath and Mother Parvati become pleased and fulfill all the wishes of the devotees. This is the reason why there is a crowd of Shiva devotees in Kashi Vishwanath temple for darshan and worship of Baba. The darshan has been going on since morning and this will continue throughout the day.
Sawan Shivratri is a major Hindu festival with deep religious and spiritual meaning. This festival is celebrated on the 14th day of the lunar month and marks the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This sacred month, typically falling between July and August, is a period of worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
The Kanwar Yatra procession witnesses Kanwariyas collecting water from a river and carrying it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the Lord Shiva shrines.
The Kanwar Yatra is a pilgrimage that took place from July 22 and will come to an end on August 2 on Shivratri. (ANI)
