Massive explosion rocks Agartala home, couple grievously injured

A couple got severely injured in a terrifying explosion that occurred inside their house near the Agartala Police Headquarters on Thursday night, said police.

Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 19 (ANI): A couple got severely injured in a terrifying explosion that occurred inside their house near the Agartala Police Headquarters on Thursday night, said police.
The impact of the explosion was so strong that it demolished the walls and hurled out the residents, identified as Dr Bishwajit Sutradhar and his wife Rupa Sutradhar, out of the window.
Neighbours, alarmed by the deafening noise, rushed to the scene and transported the injured couple to Agartala GB Hospital. Both are currently receiving medical treatment.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances behind this shocking incident. Investigation is under way. Forensic experts have arrived.
Detailing the incident, Dr Kiran Kumar, SP, West Tripura, said, "Yesterday night around midnight 12, an explosion occurred in a building near West Tripura District SP Office. Immediately, fire service, medical personnel, and police reached the location and shifted two injured people namely Dr Biswajit Sutradhar and his wife Rupa Sutradhar to hospital.
"A disaster management team has been roped in to remove the debris. Dr. Sutradhar is out of danger, but Mrs. Rupa Sutradhar is still critical," added the SP.
An investigation is under way. (ANI)
