Manipur: Successful joint operations by Army, Police and security forces yield cache of arms, ammunition

Army, Manipur police and security forces in joint operations across Manipur have seized arms and ammunition showing synergy between different departments in the state. In these operations, rifles, carbines, grenades and war like stores were recovered which were meant to disturb peace in the state.The forces have vowed to wipe out peace disturbing elements from Manipur.

Thoubal (Manipur) [India], September 30 (ANI): In a series of successful joint operations in the hill and valley areas, Indian Army, Assam Rifles in close coordination with Manipur Police and other security forces in the previous week have recovered 23 weapons, 52.5 Kgs of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition and warlike stores from various districts across the state.
These operations showcase synergy amongst the various security forces operating in the state.
On 25 and 27 September 2024, an intelligence based joint operation launched by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in the general areas of Tekcham Maning and Phainom Village Pine Forest Plantation in Thoubal District resulted in recovery of one 7.62 mm Self Loading Rifle (SLR), two 9 mm carbines, one 9 mm pistol, one 0.32 mm pistol, grenades ammunition and war like stores.
A major tragedy was averted when Assam Rifles and Manipur Police detected and neutralized 10 Kgs of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) placed along State Highway 18 in Saram, Thoubal District. The quick response by Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police bomb disposal team ensured that the device was safely neutralized.
In Kangpokpi district, an intelligence-based operation launched by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on 27 September 2024 in general area of Loiching Ridge resulted in recovery of two .303 bolt action rifles, one 9 mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and warlike stores.
Continuing their efforts, Assam Rifles conducted another joint search operation in the Aigejang Ridge line area in the same district on 28 September 2024 and recovered one .303 sniper rifle, one .303 bolt action rifle, two 9 mm pistols, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
In Churachandpur district, Indian Army, Manipur Police and BSF launched an intelligence-based operation on 25 September 2024 and recovered two large heavy, long-range country-made mortars (Pompi) and grenades. Similarly, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operation in the general area Songdoi on 28 September 24 and recovered pistol and single barrel gun of Myanmar origin.
In Imphal East district, troops of Indian Army patrolling in the sensitive areas detected and diffused three IEDs, weighing approximately 42.5 kg, which were cleverly concealed along the Tumukhong-Hungdum Tangkhul road, near Maphital ridge.
In Bishnupur district, Indian Army, Manipur Police and CRPF launched a search operation in general area Phoisenphai Vill & Kwakta and recovered two Pompi (Country made Mortar), two Carbine Sub Machine gun (Modified), one Single barrel Rifle, three Pistols, a grenade, ammunition and war like stores.
These operations demonstrate the unwavering commitment of security forces to ensure early return of peace and normalcy in Manipur. (ANI)
