Manipur: Students, teachers bat for disturbance-free education

Imphal (Manipur) [India], July 5 (ANI): On the occasion of 'Disturbance Free Education Zone Demand Day', a mass rally was organised by the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) on Thursday.

Imphal (Manipur) [India], July 5 (ANI): On the occasion of 'Disturbance Free Education Zone Demand Day', a mass rally was organised by the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) on Thursday.
DESAM President Salam Akash told ANI that the student body has been demanding a disturbance-free zone with no bandhs (strikes) and blockades, and excluding the education institutes, students and teachers from any of the state's issues.
Akash also stated in a bid to constitute disturbance-free educational institutions, the day has been observed since 2008.
Thousands of students and teachers belonging to different educational institutes of Manipur took part in the rally. It commenced from Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and ended at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
The DESAM President appealed to different armed organisations and parties to not demand money, quotas or any kind of materials from the school authorities. He also appealed to avoid shutting down educational institutions if they seek assistance.
A pamphlet including the observation of "Disturbance Free Education Zone Demand Day" was distributed. (ANI)
