"Around 700 permanent houses for displaced persons have been built, and another 7,000 homes to provide temporary accommodation for those in relief camps have been approved by the Centre. Special thanks to PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah for their continued support in restoring normalcy," he posted on X.
Earlier last week, in a significant first meeting since the violent crisis erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023, a group of elected members of the state's Assembly representing Kuki-Zo-Hmar, Meitei, and Naga communities discussed the current situation and appealed to the people to shun violence.
This move marked the first direct discussions between Kuki, Meitei, and Naga representatives, highlighting the Centre's commitment to facilitating dialogue between the fractured communities.
The talks, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, were held in the national capital in the presence of senior ministry officials, MLAs, and ministers from the Kuki-Zo-Hmar, Meitei, and Naga communities.
"The meeting unanimously resolved to appeal to all communities in the state to shun violence so that no more innocent lives are lost," the MHA said in a statement issued after the meeting. (ANI)
