Imphal (Manipur) [India], October 11 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a training center and three night shelters for Building and Other Construction Workers (BOC) on Thursday.
The inaugural function was organized by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, under the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Government of Manipur, at ITI, Takyelpat, Imphal.
During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that since the formation of the BJP government in the state, there has been unwavering support extended to the working class.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a project worth approximately Rs150 crores has been sanctioned for the construction of working women's hostels at ten different locations in the state. Additionally, about Rs 10 crores have been allocated for the establishment of a skill development center for youth in the Takyel area, he added.
CM Biren Singh also announced that loans of up to Rs 10 lakhs, with a 30 per cent subsidy, are available for the weaker sections of society under the One Family One Livelihood scheme to help improve living standards. He appealed to people to avail benefits.
He praised MLA Patsoi AC Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh for his role in securing approval for a project costing around Rs 400 crores for repairing roads affected by recent floods from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India.
The Chief Minister noted that the government would continue the free distribution of fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) scheme until 2028.
Since the state government cannot provide jobs for all educated youths, he said that initiatives are in place to provide skill-based training courses to enhance employability. Priority for these training programs will be given to youths displaced from their homes, he added.
Addressing the rising cases of dengue fever in the state, the Chief Minister urged the public to take precautions to prevent infection.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities in the state and expressed his hope for the public to work together to find an amicable solution to the ongoing crisis. (ANI)
