Man posing as IAS officer and duping Budgam resident of Rs 6.5 lakh arrested: J-K Police

One person, accused of impersonating as an IAS officer and duping a local resident of Budgam of over Rs 6 lakh, has been arrested, police said on Thursday.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 19 (ANI): A man accused of impersonating an IAS officer and duping a local resident of Budgam of over Rs 6 lakh has been arrested, police said on Thursday.
As per Jammu and Kashmir police, on October 18, Budgam police station received a formal written complaint from Ghulam Hassan Malik, a resident of Aalipora Putlibagh, about an alleged impersonation scam.
"The applicant accused an Ayush Koul, also known as 'Vicky', residing at Rose Lane No. 06, Rajbagh, Srinagar, of posing as an IAS officer and defrauding him of Rs 6.5 lakh under the pretext of securing government job for the applicant's son. In response to the complaint, an FIR No. 302/2023 was registered under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in police station Budgam. During the investigation, the primary suspect, Ayush Koul, was apprehended," they added.
Moreover, Burhan Bashir, Koul's accomplice and a resident of Nundresh Colony, Bemina has also been arrested in the matter.
