Man held for threatening to attack on Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

Ahead of the India-Pakistan World Cup match, the Ahmedabad crime branch has arrested a man for allegedly sending an email threatening to attack the Narendra Modi Stadium here on October 14, officials said.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 11 (ANI): Ahead of the India-Pakistan World Cup match, the Ahmedabad crime branch has arrested a man for allegedly sending an email threatening to attack the Narendra Modi Stadium here on October 14, officials said.
The accused identified as Karan Mavi, was arrested from Rajkot, according to a crime branch.
"On October 9, a threat email was received by the official ID of BCCI. It stated that there would be an explosion in the Narendra Modi Stadium, located in the Motera area, on October 10, and that everyone would shudder," Neeraj Kumar Badgujar, Additional CP (Crime Branch) said.
Mavi, a native of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested under sections 505 (1) B (public mischief by an act intended to cause fear or alarm among the public), and 506 (2) which is related to criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code, he added.
During interrogation, it was found that he has also served a two year jail term in Madhya Pradesh.
Additional Commissioner of Police revealed that a racket has been busted who have been seelling fake tickets of India-Pakistan World Cup match.
"For the sale of fake tickets, we formed a team and investigated. We got to know that there was a gang of four people who were selling fake tickets by doing colour xeroxes of original tickets and changing their serial numbers. The four accused have been arrested, and more than 150 fake tickets have been recovered," he added.
He further said that there are four security features in original tickets that customers can check.
"The ticket has multiple layers, of which the middle layer is red. Second, there is a void feature; one can see the void word behind... Third, there is a watermark named macrolane, which can be seen by a magnifying glass. Other than this, the barcode number of all tickets is different," he added.
Earlier in the day, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi visited Narendra Modi Stadium and held a meeting with the organizers of the match.
During this, Gujarat's DGP Vikas Sahay, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik and top officials of the committee were present.
"The government has made all the arrangements to welcome all the guests. Arrangements have been made to ensure that the management and spectators can watch the match well," he added.
The cricket fever is all-time high all over the world as the World Cup has kicked off with a couple of highly entertaining matches. 'Men in Blue' are full of confidence after winning the Asia Cup and clinching a recently concluded ODI series against five-time World Champions Australia.
Pakistan and India will square off in the biggest stadium in the world - Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on October 14.
'The Men in Green' will be out for revenge after India dominated them in a thumping 228-run victory in the Asia Cup Super Four stage last month. (ANI)
