Man booked for rape after girl he met on dating app files police complaint

One person has been booked under rape charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman, he met on dating app Bumble, Delhi Police said on Thursday.

New Delhi [India], October 26 (ANI): One person was booked under rape charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he had met on a dating app, Delhi Police said on Thursday.
As per police, a complaint was registered in this connection at Gulabi Bagh police station in North Delhi.
According to the police, a complaint was received by a girl stating that on January 17 this year, she started talking with one person on the dating app.
"On January 18, 2023, he insisted she meet him late at night. Because it was late, she refused at first but agreed to meet at a local tea stall," a police official said.
"After that, he took her to his residence at Basant Nagar, Delhi at about 3 am. After that he allegedly made physical relation with her forcefully," police said.
An FIR under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered in the matter and investigation is underway.
