Babul Supriyo at Delhi on Thursday

New Delhi (India), December 6 (ANI): Union Minister Babul Supriyo slammed the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for denying permission to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) "Rath-Yatra" stating that it might cause communal tension.
Babul said that Mamata Banerjee is known for her "below the belt remarks" and is "killing democracy in West Bengal".
"She has termed Rath-Yatra as Ravan Yatra and this shows her bad taste. We cannot stoop so low to answer her," said Babul Supriyo.
The BJP has planned to hold three "Rath-Yatras" beginning with Cooch Behar district on December 7, Kakdwip in the South 24 Parganas district on December 9, and Tarapith temple in Birbhum district on December 14. The Yatra was to be flagged off by party president Amit Shah from Cooch Behar on Friday.
Also, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday denied permission to BJP to hold a rath yatra ordering that the rath yatra cannot take place till the next date of hearing i.e. January 9. (ANI)
