Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 29 (ANI): West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar on Thursday wrote to Governor CV Ananda Bose over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's revenge remark and sought intervention in the matter.
In the letter, Majumdar claimed that Mamata Banerjee's statement attempted to threaten and incite violence and demanded her resignation over her statement made during her address to the Student Wing of TMC in Kolkata.
"I am writing to bring to your urgent attention the recent statements made by Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee during her address to the Student Wing of TMC in Kolkata. She brazenly incited the gathering by declaring, "I never sought revenge, but now, do what needs to be done." This blatant endorsement of revenge politics from the state's highest office is concerning. Furthermore, she also made inflammatory remarks, stating, Remember, if Bengal burns, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also burn," Majumdar said in his letter to Governor Bose.
In the letter, Majumdar said that Mamata Banerjee's statement attempts to threaten, incite violence, and sow hatred. She should resign immediately. He added that it is the duty of every public servant, especially those in high authority, to foster peace and discourage violence.
"This is not the voice of a person in a constitutional position; it is the rhetoric of an anti-national. Her statement clearly attempts to threaten, incite violence, and sow hatred among the populace. She no longer merits holding such an important office and must resign immediately, it is the fundamental duty of every public servant, particularly those in high authority, to foster peace and discourage violence of any kind. The Chief Minister's stance during this meeting is alarming and jeopardizes both the safety and security of the citizens of West Bengal and the integrity of the state," he said in the letter.
"I respectfully urge you to recognize the gravity of this situation and initiate appropriate measures to address it judiciously. I look forward to your prompt and decisive action to protect the interests of the citizens of West Bengal and uphold the constitutional values of our nation," Majumdar said. (ANI)
