New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): Union Minister Nityanand Rai on Friday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for creating a chaotic situation in the state and her government is trying to distract attention from the case of the rape by "calling it a suicide".
Speaking to ANI, Rai said "The one who is supposed to maintain the law and order go on a protest. This means that Mamata Banerjee wants to create a chaotic situation there. The attempts made by Mamta Banerjee and her government to distract attention from the case of the rape by calling it a suicide is horrible."
Further, he questioned on how despite being a woman, Mamata Banerjee has shown no love, mercy and compassion to the victim.
"The CBI has now been taking action on the case. Despite being a woman, Mamata Banerjee does not even have even a little mercy, compassion or love. You should be cooperating but you and your government is busy in destroying the evidence and diverting the attention from the case. You should be helping the CBI in this case. Against who are you protesting? This is a grave injustice and sin that you are committing," he added.
Earlier, Rai reacted sharply over Mamata Banerjee's remarks that the Left is in connivance with the Ram (the Bharatiya Janata party) to create unrest in West Bengal, Union Minister Nityanand Rai said she is giving such statements to cover up the gruesome murder and rape of the doctor.
"Mamata Banerjee is absolutely wrong. All this is a conspiracy by the TMC and she is giving such statements to cover up this gruesome crime," said Union Minister Nityanand Rai.
"Left and Ram want to create unrest in Bengal and they both have come together to do this," CM Banerjee earlier said while referring to the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday.
On the rally taken out by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee earlier today, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said, "...She (Mamata Banerjee) herself is the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Health Minister, then against whom was she protesting by taking out a rally?... She is trying to stop the BJP, we assure her that this movement will not stop, and we will continue our protest."

BJP leader Shaina NC said, "Law and order is a state subject and on one hand West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says that it is a very big accident, the culprits should be given the death penalty. On the other hand, they say that everyone is responsible, I want to ask who is the Chief Minister of the state, who is the Home Minister of the state, and who is the Health Minister of the state?"
"Mamata Banerjee will have to take the moral responsibility. The rampage and vandalism we saw in RG Kar Medical College make one thing clear whatever evidence was present there has been tampered with...Today they (Mamata Banerjee) held a protest. Against whom is the protest when she is the Chief Minister, she is the Home Minister, she is the Health Minister and she did not even give a statement about the mischief done by the administration. First, she said that it may be a suicide, the girl is missing. One thing is clear from this, in the Kolkata rape case, the TMC government has done a wrong thing and created a rift in the policy demands of our medical services and our student doctors and justice," she added.
