Mallikarjun Kharge extends heartfelt Diwali greetings; says "Let the light of truth and justice always illuminate our path"

New Delhi [India], October 20 (ANI): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge extended warm Diwali greetings to citizens across the country, calling for unity, love, and the triumph of truth and justice.
In a post shared on X, Kharge said, "Heartfelt Diwali greetings to all my fellow citizens from my side. May this wonderful festival, which leads from darkness to light, fill your life with joy."
Wishing peace and prosperity for all, he added, "May everyone's life be filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity; that is my heartfelt wish."
Kharge further urged people to come together to promote harmony and compassion while standing firm against injustice and discrimination. "Let us all come together to promote love, brotherhood, harmony, and goodwill, and confront injustice, ignorance, and discrimination unitedly, so that the light of truth and justice always illuminates our path. #HappyDiwali"

Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu also extended Diwali greetings to the nation.
Sharing an X post, President Murmu urged everyone to support the deprived and the needy, and celebrate the festival safely and in an environment-friendly manner.
President Murmu wrote, "On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians, both in India and across the world."
"This festival of joy is also an occasion for self-reflection and self-improvement. This festival is also an opportunity to help and support the deprived and the needy, and to bring joy into their lives. I urge everyone to celebrate Diwali safely, responsibly and in an environment-friendly manner. May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all," the President added.
She noted that the festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil, and echoed the message of "mutual affection and brotherhood."
"Diwali, one of India's most popular festivals, is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The festival symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. Celebrated across the country with immense fervour, the auspicious occasion of Diwali gives the message of mutual affection and brotherhood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended Diwali wishes to the people of India.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us."
Deepavali or Diwali is an Indian festival of lights. 'Deepa' means lamp or light, and 'Vali' means string or row, and Deepavali means rows of lights. It celebrates the victory of good over evil.
Diwali is a five-day festival that starts on Dhanteras. On Dhanteras, people buy jewellery or utensils and worship God. The second day is called Naraka Chaturdashi. It is also called Chhoti Diwali or Small Diwali.
The third day of Diwali is the main day of the celebrations. People worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi on this day and offer prayers to bless them with wealth and prosperity.
The fourth day of Diwali is devoted to Govardhan Puja. The fifth day is called Bhai Dooj. On this day, sisters pray for their brothers to have long and happy lives by performing the Tika ceremony, and brothers give gifts to their sisters. (ANI)
