Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 29 (ANI): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Tuesday that the State Government has given approval for the establishment of District and Additional Sessions Court as well as a Senior Civil Court in Pimpri Chinchwad.
Pawar shared a post on his official 'X' handle and informed about the development. Pawar termed the decision a historic and reassuring one.
"A historic and reassuring decision by the state cabinet for Pimpri-Chinchwad residents..! The state cabinet has today approved the establishment of a District and Additional Sessions Court as well as a Senior Civil Court in Pimpri-Chinchwad," Ajit Pawar said.
He stated that the decision is a matter of great satisfaction and thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the cabinet.
"This decision, which is reassuring and historic for Pimpri-Chinchwad residents, has taken concrete shape today, which is a matter of great satisfaction. I wholeheartedly thank the Chief Minister and the entire cabinet. A rapidly developing municipal corporation like Pimpri-Chinchwad urgently needed an independent District and Sessions Court. I am delighted that citizens will now receive justice from local courts without having to go to Pune," he wrote on 'X'.
Earlier on July 26, Ajit Pawar conducted an early morning visit to the Hinjewadi area of Pune district to review ongoing efforts to address pressing civic issues in the region.
The visit was followed by a meeting with concerned officials.
The inspection followed the first spell of monsoon rains, which caused significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions in the Hinjewadi area, prompting local residents to raise concerns.
Acting on directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar and other senior officials were instructed to conduct weekly site visits and monitor the progress of remedial measures.
"Most of the problems in Hinjewadi have now been resolved, which the local residents themselves have acknowledged," said Pawar after the review.
"To reach this point, we had to make some difficult decisions. While our intention is not to inconvenience anyone, resolving traffic congestion and waterlogging requires the removal of illegal constructions and encroachments. That work is currently underway," he said. (ANI)
