Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 9 (ANI): Ensuring the safety of millions of devotees at the 2025 Mahakumbh is a top priority for the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Security arrangements are being made across land, water, and air. In a first, to prevent any untoward incidents during the bathing rituals, the water police are being equipped with high-tech jet skis, often referred to as "mini ships."
The role of the water police is crucial. To ensure the safety of all visiting pilgrims and saints, these high-speed mini vessels are being deployed for the first time. These high-tech jet skis can reach quickly. Following the directives of CM Yogi Adityanath, select officials in Uttar Pradesh are finalizing the preparations for the event, including strengthening the water police's security infrastructure.
In-charge of the Water Police at Qila Police Station, Janardan Prasad Sahni, shared that high-tech jet skis are being introduced to ensure the safety of devotees at Mahakumbh. A total of 25 jet skis have been requested, set to join the water police fleet by December. These mini vessels, joining the water police for the first time, can swiftly reach devotees in need, no matter how far they are, ensuring their safety within minutes. Notably, these jet skis can travel at speeds of up to 70 km/h, allowing immediate assistance.
Each jet ski is powered by a robust engine, which draws water in and ejects it from the rear, providing propulsion. They will be highly effective at Mahakumbh, especially given their ability to carry up to three passengers. In emergencies, a driver can reach the scene quickly and secure at least two people. With a top speed of 70 km/h, these high-tech jet skis will be invaluable to the water police in safeguarding devotees.
Mahakumbh starts with Paush Purnima Snan, which is on 13 January 2025. The Kumbh festival will conclude with the last bath on 26 February 2025, the day of Mahashivratri. (ANI)
