Maha CM calls budget a gift to farmers, women, middle class

Faridabad (Haryana) [India], Feb 1 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday termed the Centre's interim budget as a gift to farmers, labourers, women and the middle class.
"Today's budget is a gift to farmers, labourers, women and middle class of India. The defence budget was enhanced beyond Rs 3 lakh crore, a first in the history of India. Statesmen don't talk about only one year, the budget has created a blueprint of India of 2030," Fadnavis said.
The government announced a new agricultural scheme, which will entail payment of Rs 6,000 annually to each of the 12 crore marginal farmers in the country. The scheme titled 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)' will involve an annual outlay of Rs 75,000 crore, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said, while presenting the Interim Budget 2019-20 in the Parliament on Friday. 
It also proposed to launch a mega pension scheme called 'Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan' for the unorganised sector workers with monthly income upto Rs. 15,000.
While allocation for defence budget has for the first time crossed the Rs three lakh crore mark with the government setting aside Rs 3,18,931 crore for the sector in the interim budget 2019-20, which is a hike of over Rs 20,000 crore allotted last year. (ANI)
