Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 6 (ANI): Hailing Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday asserted that Madhya Pradesh was earlier known as ‘bimaru’ but now it is a developing state.
Nitin Gadkari was speaking at Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa which was also attended by Chief Minister Chouhan and other party leaders in the state.
"Earlier Madhya Pradesh was known as 'bimaru' state but now it is known as a developing state. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan expanded the irrigation area to ensure work for every farmer and water in every field. By doing this Madhya Pradesh has achieved the first position in agriculture production,” Gadkari said during his address at the 'Jan Ashirvad Yatra'.
Speaking on occasion, CM Chouhan slammed the Congress party and said that the district benefitted after the BJP government came into power.
"What did Congress give? They didn't give roads and electricity. Who gave water to the people of Khandwa district? Our Water Resource Minister made the policy...If there's a hub of electricity in MP now, it is Khandwa," CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
Earlier praising the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the CM for the literacy campaign launched in this tribal-dominated area which ensured Mandla to be declared as a fully functional literate district.
"Recently Mandla district has been declared as a fully functional literate district. I congratulate Shivraj Singh ji for the literacy campaign launched in this tribal-dominated area," Shah said.
He further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has provided social and economic security to every section through all-round development in Madhya Pradesh.
The BJP is taking out the yatras, a mass-contact programme, from five different places in Madhya Pradesh, where the assembly polls are due this year-end.
These yatras will culminate on September 25 in the state capital Bhopal with a ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’. (ANI)
