Madhya Pradesh election commission releases final electoral roll; over 5.60 crore voters in state

According to Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan, the number of general voters in the state is 5,60,60,925, out of which 2,88,25,607 are male voters, 2,72,33,945 are female voters and the third gender voters are 1373.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 4 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Election Commission on Wednesday released the final electoral roll for the forthcoming state assembly polls. The number of electorates in the state is 5,61,36,229, including 75,304 service voters.
According to Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan, the number of general voters in the state is 5,60,60,925, out of which 2,88,25,607 are male voters, 2,72,33,945 are female voters and the third gender voters are 1373.
On the other hand, the total number of service voters in the state is 75,304, in which 73,020 are male and 2,284 are female voters. Therefore, there are a total of 5,61,36,229 voters registered in the state according to the last publication, Rajan said.
Of these, there are 6,53,640 elderly voters who are 80 years or above, 5,05,146 are disabled voters and 99 are Non-Resident Indian (NRI) voters. Besides, there are 22,36,564 first-time voters, he added.
Rajan said, "A total of 24,33,965 voters were added between the draft publication dated August 2 and the final publication dated October 4. At the same time, the names of 7,50,175 voters were deleted. Besides, amendments of details were made to 15,01,146 voters whether it was related to change of photo or name correction in the said time period."
Meanwhile, talking about the polling stations in the state he said that there were a total of 64,523 polling stations in the state for the upcoming assembly polls.
The officer also said that the names of voters still would be added to the electoral roll. According to legal procedure, the applications to add names to the electoral roll would be accepted till ten days before the nomination of the candidates.
On the other hand, as far as the deletion of the voters is concerned, it is done till the announcement of the election date. The applications submitted after the announcement of the election date are not acted on, he added. (ANI)
