Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav extends congratulations on birth of three Cheetah cubs at Kuno National Park

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 3 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday extended congratulations on the birth of three cubs to Namibian Cheetah Aasha at Kuno National Park situated in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district.
"Today, three cheetah cubs were born at Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district under the Cheetah Project started under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Government. It is a special day in the world. There was a time when cheetahs were extinct from Asia. Now a new sprout has sprouted (referring to birth of Cheetah cubs)," CM Yadav said.
He added, "I want to congratulate all the officials of Madhya Pradesh who dreamt of re-establishment of Cheetah here. I am thrilled and extremely happy to see their vision come true."
Earlier, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav shared a videos of cheetah cubs on X.
"Purrs in the wild! Thrilled to share that Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. The cubs have been born to Namibian Cheetah Aasha. This is a roaring success for Project Cheetah, envisioned by PM Modi to restore ecological balance. My big congrats to all experts involved in the project, the Kuno wildlife officials, and wildlife enthusiasts across India," Yadav posted on X.
On September 17, 2022, the first batch of eight Namibian cheetahs was released in Kuno National Park (KNP) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his birthday.
In the second batch, 12 Cheetahs were taken from South Africa, but out of these 20 Cheetahs 8 have died. Subsequently, twelve cheetahs from South Africa were also translocated and released in Kuno National Park in February 2023.
The entire project was implemented under the meticulous supervision of the expert team consisting of government officials, scientists, wildlife biologists and veterinarians belonging to Namibia, South Africa and India, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change had stated.
The last cheetah died in the country in 1947 in Korea district in present-day Chhattisgarh, which was earlier part of Madhya Pradesh, and the species was declared extinct in India in 1952. (ANI)
