"During inspection, we are checking fire safety and checking whether any kind of activities are going on in the basement or not. We will also check the lift audit and if there are exit doors or not. Whether students have been briefed about emergency situations or not. We look after all these things," the officer added.
On the other hand, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Akshay Chaudhary told ANI, "All the coaching institutes are being inspected collectively to assess the safety parameters and action is being taken if any irregularities are found. SDM and police are jointly checking the safety according to all the parameters."
The checking is being done to see if the campus is safe in case of fire and waterlogging for the safety of students, he added.
Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav instructed officials to inspect coaching institutes running in basements across the state to ensure safety.
CM Yadav issued the instructions during a review meeting held at Mantralaya in Bhopal following a recent accident in Delhi that claimed the lives of three students.
Notably, three students died after the basement of a building housing a coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar was flooded following rains on Saturday evening. The Delhi Police arrested the owner and coordinator of the coaching centre in connection with the incident and charged them with culpable homicide, among other charges. (ANI)
