Ludhiana: Third accused arrested for attacking Shiv Sena Leader Sandeep Thapar

The Ludhiana Police arrested the third accused today in the case of attack on Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar. The third accused has been identified as Jaswinder Singh, aka Sunny.

Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], July 12 (ANI): The Ludhiana Police arrested the third accused today in the case of attack on Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar.
The third accused has been identified as Jaswinder Singh, aka Sunny.
As per the press release issued by the police, the two other accused identified as Sarabjit Singh aka Sabha and Harjot Singh aka Jota have already been arrested in the case.
During the investigation by the police, it has been found out that apart from the previously two accused, Sunny had also committed the crime. He was arrested by the police based on the secret information they received.
Earlier, on July 6, Sandeep Thapar was attacked by three unknown people with a sword in Ludhiana, as per information from the police.
According to Jaskaran Singh Teja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ludhiana, Thapar was attacked on July 6 at around 11: 30 a.m.
"Around 11:30 a.m., three unknown people attacked Sandeep Thapar with a sword. He got injured and is under treatment in the hospital. The accused have been identified and they will be arrested soon," DCP Ludhiana said.
After the incident, the police had issued an alert in the entire area and arrested two accused people, Sarabjit Singh and Harjot Singh on July 6 in connection with the case.
"We had received instructions from DGP, CP Ludhiana and an alert was issued in the entire area. The two accused, who were wanted were arrested near the university area. A scooty was also recovered. An alert has been issued to arrest the third accused as well. Both the arrested accused, Sarabjit Singh and Harjot Singh, are residents of Ludhiana itself. They have been handed over to the Ludhiana Police, said SSP Fategarh Sahib Rajvot Grewal.
"We have arrested two accused, Sarabjit Singh and Harjot Singh. The third accused is still wanted. Further investigation is underway," Kuldeep Singh Chahal said. (ANI)
