Lucknow: History-sheeter injured in police encounter in Thakurganj

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 2 (ANI): A notorious history-sheeter sustained injuries in a fierce encounter with the police in the Barikela area of Thakurganj district.
Identified as Babloo alias Kaleem, the criminal allegedly fired upon a woman during a robbery.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West, Durgesh Kumar, revealed that the police received intelligence regarding the involvement of the criminal in a recent robbery targeting a woman.
Acting on the information, an FIR was registered in Thakurganj, prompting a police team to intercept Babloo, who was reportedly present in the Green Corridor area.
Upon the police's attempt to apprehend him, Babloo attempted to flee. In the Baroni village, he opened fire at the police, prompting a retaliatory response.
"He had looted a woman. In this regard, a case was registered in Thakurganj. After enquiring, it was found that he is still present on the green corridor and when the police team tried to stop him for arrest, he started running. When he was surrounded by the police in Barauni village, he started firing. He reached Barikala village and when he was stopped, he fired multiple times and the police also fired in self-defense in which he got shot and got injured. His name is being told as Bablu alias Kaleem and is a history sheeter," said Durgesh Kumar DCP West

During the exchange of gunfire, Babloo sustained gunshot wounds and was subsequently identified as a repeat offender with a criminal record spanning 18 cases. These cases include charges related to robberies, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.
Babloo was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, where he is currently under police custody. Authorities have indicated that further legal proceedings will follow once his medical condition stabilizes. (ANI)
