Patna (Bihar) [India], March 24 (ANI): Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Sunday expressed strong confidence in the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) potential to secure victory in all 40 seats in Bihar.
"The enthusiasm among party workers and the people shows that the NDA, with great strength, is poised to win all 40 seats, and all our NDA allies, including our CM and all our coalition partners, are ready to unite and win all 40 seats for PM Modi," Chirag Paswan said.
Earlier, Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan asserted on March 20 that he will be contesting from Hajipur, against his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
When questioned about the allocation of offices ("karyalaye"), Paswan asserted that they would rightfully receive what belongs to them.
Regarding the recent defections of some Janata Dal United (JDU) members to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Paswan said that, "this is a political time and if people who have aspirations and also for the future do such things (a few leaders leaving JDU and joining RJD), I don't think it will have any impact."
In response to allegations that the RJD is distributing tickets without finalising seat sharing within their alliance, Paswan criticised the move, labelling it as unethical.
" If RJD is distributing symbols without having seat distribution within their alliance, it's unethical," Chirag Paswan said.
On March 18, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced seat-sharing in Bihar for the Lok Sabha polls with the BJP set to contest 17 seats and JD-(U) 16. Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will contest one seat each. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest five seats.
Reflecting on the previous Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD (U), and LJP, dominated the 2019 elections by winning 39 out of 40 seats. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan, led by RJD, INC, and RLSP, managed to secure only one seat. The BJP won 17 seats with a vote share of 24.1%, JD(U) won 16 seats with a vote share of 22.3%, and LJP won 6 seats with a vote share of 8%. The INC could only secure one seat with a vote share of 7.9%.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP emerged victorious with 22 seats, followed by LJP with 6 seats, RJD with 4 seats, and INC with only 2 seats. These shifts and changes indicate the dynamic and evolving political scenario in Bihar. (ANI)
