LS polls 2024: Tripura Congress executive committee meets to prepare for vote counting day

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 1 (ANI): The Congress executive committee on Saturday convened a significant meeting at the Congress headquarters, presided over by State Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha. The primary focus was on preparations for the counting day on June 4.
The main agenda was to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the counting agents, ensuring a fair and transparent process. Saha stressed the importance of vigilance and adherence to guidelines to uphold the integrity of the election. Logistical aspects, including the deployment of agents across counting centres, communication protocols, and coordination mechanisms for real-time updates, were covered. Detailed instructions focused on legal and procedural aspects of the counting process.
Senior committee members shared insights on best practices for effective monitoring, while contingency plans for potential challenges were also discussed. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the party's commitment to democratic principles and ensuring a transparent electoral process.
Party president Saha expressed confidence in the team's ability to execute their duties with integrity and diligence, aiming for a fair and accurate election outcome that reflects the true will of the people.
Saha said, "We have completed the election in our state. All our INDIA alliance parties are instructed to organise a meeting. Today we are here to discuss various issues. A central committee meeting is held here. We have discussed here about counting related issues, about giving agents to all the counting halls. We have also discussed various steps to be taken after the result declaration."
Meanwhile, voting started in the last 57 parliamentary constituencies at 7 am on Saturday across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
According to the Election Commission of India, over 10.06 crore electors including approximately 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female and 3574 third gender electors are expected to exercise their franchise.
The seven states in which polling is underway include Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Polling for the remaining 42 Assembly constituencies of the Odisha State Legislative Assembly is also taking place simultaneously. (ANI)
