"Look at the day they chose..." Congress' Rajeev Shukla questions security lapse over parliament security breach

"Parliament is a temple of democracy and any such incident is condemnable. Today, 23 years back, there was an attack in the same parliament, look at the day chosen by the attackers. There is a security lapse for sure, these things need to be dealt with vigilance, and nobody should make any comment on it without proper investigation," Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said.

New Delhi [India], December 13 (ANI): Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said that the security breach in parliament should be dealt with vigilance and without proper investigation no one should comment on it.
Recalling the horrific 2001 parliament attack, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said that there was an attack on the parliament exactly 23 years ago and today again the security was breached in the parliament.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor claimed that intruders were apparently sponsored by a sitting MP of the ruling party.
"The fact that these people (intruders) were apparently sponsored by a sitting MP of the ruling party...These people smuggled in smoke pistols, which shows there is a serious security lapse. Not only did they fired the pistols but also shouted some slogans inaudible to some of us. The new building does not seem to be configured very well when it comes to security in comparison with the arrangements in the old building," Tharoor said.
Notably, In a security breach in Lok Sabha, two men jumped into the House from the visitor's gallery and had canisters in their hand, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said.
They released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by MPs.Visuals showed an unidentified man jumping from the visitor's gallery of Lok Sabha after which there was a slight commotion. The House was adjourned till 2 pm. The incident happened when members were raising matters of urgent public importance and BJP MP Khagen Murmu was raising his issue.
The security was breached in the parliament on the day of the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 parliament attack which resulted in the death of six Delhi Police personnel, two parliament security personnel and a gardener.(ANI)
