Lok Sabha polls: Medical teams deployed for voters convenience in Bihar amid heatwave

Ahead of the seventh phase of polling in Bihar, Patna District Magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok said that sufficient medical teams have been deployed at various places considering a red alert for the heatwave conditions.

Patna (Bihar) [India], May 31 (ANI): Ahead of the seventh phase of polling in Bihar, Patna District Magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok said that sufficient medical teams have been deployed at various places considering a red alert for the heatwave conditions.
"More than 43 lakh electors will vote tomorrow. Medical teams have been deployed at various places, considering a red alert for the heatwave conditions. A mock poll will start at 5.30 am before voting begins at 7 am. 10 percent reserve polling officials present in case any already deployed polling officials fall ill due to heat.," District Magistrate said.
Official further said that their motto was free, fair, and transparent elections.
"12 dispatch centres have been created for 12 Vidhan Sabha seats in Patliputra and Patna. Medical QRTs have been set. Polling parties should comfortably move from dispatch centres to polling booths. In a few centres where adequate facilities are not available, clusters have been formed," he said.
District Magistrate further said that there are separate facilities for transport.
"Thousands of vehicles have been engaged. Considering heatwave conditions, we have kept 10 percent reserved police personnel. We have created strong rooms. We have initiated several awareness schemes, such as free rides, march to the booth, etc. For senior citizens, free travel facilities will be provided. Tertiary care units have been formed. Air ambulance is also ready, any fatal case will be airlifted. Paramilitary forces are on alert. QRTs have been placed," he further added. (ANI)
Eight constituencies in Patna will go to the polls in the seventh phase of the elections on Saturday. Elections in Bihar are being held in all seven phases.
With 40 Lok Sabha constituencies, the fourth highest among all States and Union Territories, Bihar holds a crucial position in shaping Indian politics.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, consisting of BJP, JDU (Janata Dal-United), and LJP (Lok Janshakti Party), secured victory by taking the lead on 39 out of 40 seats. (ANI)
