Alappuzha (Kerala) [India], April 23 (ANI): Exuding confidence about her victory, National Democratic Alliance candidate for the Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency, Sobha Surendran said that people will vote for her to make her part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's team to do development for the Constituency.
"There is no doubt in anybody's mind that this time too Narendra Modi government will come to power. To make me part of Modi's team, people in Alappuzha will vote for me," Sobha Surendran said while talking to ANI.
The BJP leader said that she is seeking votes by showcasing the Narendra Modi government's achievements in strengthening India's economy, national security and rooting out terrorism.
"During the UPA tenure, India's economy was down like those of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in recent times. But ten years under Narendra Modi's rule and India has become the fifth largest economy," she said.
"There are many Balidanis of us from this place like Ranjith Sreenivasan. NIA officers came here without even the knowledge of Pinarayi Vijayan's police, spending months, caught the culprits and put them in jail. PM Modi and Amit Shah have the strength to finish off terrorism in this country. I will tell this to the martyred families and people in the constituency," she added.
The then state secretary of BJP OBC Morcha, Ranjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death on December 2021 in Alapupuzha in front of his mother, wife and minor daughter. Sreenivasan's murder took place hours after the murder of SDPI leader KS Shan in Alappuzha.
Meanwhile, Sobha Surendran has claimed that women from the Christian and Hindu communities in the state "suffer" from 'Love Jihad' but the leaders of the Left and Congress deny it, showing insensitivity toward the plight of the victims.
"Christian Bishops said in a press conference about Love Jihad. Because of this many girls have suffered. Who is behind this? Congress leaders and Marxist people say that there is no Love jihad. Where are these girls? These Hindu and Christian girls end up in ISIS. To end this kind of terrorism PM Modi has the strength. I will put all these plus points of the Modi government before the people in Alappuzha. I will tell the people how UDF and Left are ruining the glory of Kerala," she said.
She also said that the political environment in Kerala is changing and becoming favourable of the BJP.
We had only two seats in Lok Sabha...people in Kerala are ready to vote for the lotus symbol because Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave crores and crores of rupees to Kerala for development. The situation is changing in favour of our party," she said.
She alleged that Congress candidate KC Venugopal had done nothing for the development of the constituency when he was MP from there.
"KC Venugopal has done nothing for the Constituency when he was MP from here. For example, the coir industry was once prominent here. Now they migrated to other states. The leaders of Congress and the Left are not even ready to talk to PM Modi infroming him about the developmental needs of the state. The situation is different in neighbouring Tamil Nadu where the leaders of both the DMK and AIADM, though they are opposed to Modi politically, discuss with him developmental proposals," she said.
This time, Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency is in a neck-to-neck triangular contest between the Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the BJP.
Besides Venugopal of the Congress, Sobha Surendran is pitted against incumbent MP and CPI (M) leader, AM Ariff. All 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala will go to the polls on April 26. The results will be announced on June 4. (ANI)
