Lobbyist Talwar to appear before court on Jan 18

New Delhi [India] Dec. 04 (ANI): A Delhi court has asked lobbyist Deepak Talwar to appear before it on January 18.

On Monday, Talwar was granted permission from appearance in person before Delhi's Tis Hazari court. However, the court asked him to appear on January 18.

Talwar is under Income Tax (IT) Department lens for Rs 1,000 crore undisclosed income.

Talwar is accused of using his influence to amend civil aviation-related bilateral agreements between India and various countries to directly benefit his clients - mainly Gulf-based international airlines.

He is facing five IT department complaints for receiving kickbacks worth hundreds of crores of rupees in individual and corporate bank accounts controlled by him and his family members in various tax jurisdictions, including tax havens, across the world. (ANI)
