Lets hope for the best: Bainsla on Gujjar reservation bill

Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan) [India], Feb 13 (ANI): Gujjar community leader Kirori Singh Bainsla here on Wednesday showed affirmation on the passage to the Gujjar reservation bill, which is being tabled today in the Rajasthan Assembly. 
If the bill is passed, it will provide 5 per cent reservation to the community for government jobs and educational institutions.
Speaking to ANI, Kirori Singh Bainsla, amid the cheering of supporters, said: "I still have hope that government will do something for this bill. Let us hope for the best."
Bainsla also requested the advocate community to study the bill in order to have a better vision of what the government is offering. "I request my friends, my well-wishers and all advocates of SBC and MBC to kindly come over the rail track and have a look at the bill, study it and give me your views," said Bainsla.
From the last few days, Rajasthan is witnessing a string of protests by the Gujjar community which has been demanding implementation of the 5 per cent reservation that was promised to them by the state government. 
The protest led by Bainsla had also affected the movement of the trains as the sections of the community have squatted on rail tracks for the last five days.
Amid the protest, all types of data services have been restricted, as per an official statement from the district administration.
On October 26 last year, the Rajasthan government passed a bill which increased Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota from 21 per cent to 26 per cent.
In December 2018, the Rajasthan government also approved one per cent reservation for Gujjars and four OBCs. At present, these communities are getting one per cent separate reservation under the legal limit of 50 per cent reservation meant for the most-backwards category in addition to OBC reservation. (ANI)
