New Delhi [India], Nov 7 (ANI): A Delhi lawyer, Vinod Yadav has filed an RTI seeking to know the legality of an agitation carried out by the Delhi police personnel outside the police headquarters to protest against their tussle with the lawyers in Tis Hazari court complex.
Aggrieved by the clashes with the lawyers at the court complex in which people from both the sides received injuries last week, the Delhi Police had on Tuesday laid siege outside the police headquarters to register their protest.
The Right to Information (RTI) application, filed on Wednesday, sought information from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi Lieutenant Governor and Delhi Commissioner of Police on whether the agitation was illegal or not.
The lawyers also sought to know if the prohibitory order were in place around the police headquarters when the protest took place.
The application also questioned the respondents on the action they are planning to take against the erring police officials.
Right to Information Act mandates timely response to the citizens on their requests for any government information.
Speaking to ANI, advocate Vinod Yadav said, "On November 5, over 1,000 Delhi police personnel gathered near ITO and put forth their demands in an illegal way."
He demanded that action should be taken against those officials under section 4 of the Armed Force Restriction Act and they should be charged under sedition law. (ANI)
