New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): An Indian delegation led by Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, concluded their three-day visit to the United Kingdom.
He was accompanied by Dr Rajiv Mani, Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs, and Dhruva Kumar Singh, Chief Controller of Accounts. The delegation engaged in significant discussions with the UK's Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Shabana Mahmood. India's High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, and other senior officials also participated in these important meetings.
The discussions took place in a cordial atmosphere, focusing on enhancing cooperation in simplifying laws and using plain language in legislative drafting.

Both sides exchanged best practices in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, particularly in arbitration and mediation. They reviewed India's ongoing reforms aimed at expediting dispute resolution and promoting economic growth and investment.
The delegation also addressed the facilitation of UK-qualified legal professionals and law firms operating in India, referencing a prior meeting on October 1, 2024, between the Chairman of the Bar Council of India and the President of the Law Society of England and Wales. Additional matters of bilateral interest were also explored.
On October 2, 2024, the Minister of State for Law and Justice was the Chief Guest at the Gandhi Jayanti function organized by the Indian High Commission at Tavistock Square, London.
After the event, he visited the London School of Economics to pay tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and explored other locations significant to both Baba Saheb and Swami Vivekananda during their time in London.
On October 1, 2024, he attended the opening of the UK Legal Year Ceremony at Westminster Abbey, where he was joined by law and justice ministers from countries including Italy, Germany, and the European Union. Following this, he engaged with members of the Indian diaspora. (ANI)
